Larry’s Powder Alert – January 14, 2015

Powder Alert – sent January 14

At last…new snow ahead

Two weather systems will give us 1 – 2ft of new snowfall between late Thursday and Sunday. The only issue is the snow level is not as low as I’d prefer, but good enough to get respectable new snowfall.

The first system will increase the precipitation later on Thursday with a snow level of 4500 ft. By Friday the snow level will drop to 3000 ft. Expect Friday morning to see 5 – 10″ above 4000ft and 2-6″ between 3000 and 4500 ft. Sounds like a powder day to me…maybe a tad “grabby” on the snow surface below 4500ft.  Expect lingering, but decreasing snow on Friday.

Storm two starts Saturday morning with slightly rising snow level 4000ft, then rising higher later afternoon and evening to 5500 ft. It will be snowing for much of the later part of the day until Sundaymorning. Then the snowfall will taper off Sundayafternoon to Monday with a 4000ft snow level.  Sunday morning will see 6-12″ above 4000ft with lesser amounts below 4000 ft. Good day skiing, but favor the upper slopes. Monday looks good, but no significant new snow.

And that’s not all …more snowfall forecasts for Eastern WA (Friday –Sunday):
Mission Ridge  — 3-7″
Mt Spokane & 49 Degrees – 6 – 8″
Bluewood – 4 – 7″

Much of next week looks dry, so take advantage of this new snow.
