Larry’s Powder Alert – December 3, 2014

Powder Alert – Weather Update

Wednesday Dec 3

A couple of weak weather systems will be moving though the Pacific NW for the next few days, with drier periods between. New snow will fall in the Cascade ski areas, but milder air is coming too. The snow level will rise to 4500 – 5000 ft, as a result expect snow to fall mainly on the middle and upper slopes.

Snowfall will increase later Thursday, then again late Friday to early Saturday. Expect a break Saturday to Sunday. Then it will snow again, late Sunday to Monday. The total snowfall for the next five days will be, 6 -15″, mainly mid and upper slopes.

The most interesting pattern will develop the middle of next week. Lots of uncertainty right now, but looks like we may start with a warm Pineapple Express (atmospheric river) and 7500 ft snow level on Wed/Thursday with big rains. Boo!  Not  fun! But after that the snow levels drops and the weather remains active, so there is huge snowfall potential Dec 11-16th. If the actual weather shows up as currently modeled for that later period, we are looking good!
