Larry’s Powder Alert December 19, 2013

Powder Alert for Friday and Saturday.

At last; respectable snowfall

It will be a slow drive up to the Cascades Friday morning with a little lowland snow on most roads, but the payoff could be excellent. The drive home will see improvement on the roadways. Expect snow Friday morning for the western Washington lowlands ( trace- 3″) – but much more in the Cascades. Expect it to snow most of the day at the resorts, filling in your tracks. Be cautious of thin spots in the pack.

For the Cascades…

Friday: 2-5″ new as you arrive, and snowing during the day (SL 1000 – rising to 3000ft) with 3-7″ new during the day.

Saturday: expect 2-6″ new , on top of Fridays accumulation.  Total 36hr Cascade snowfall 8-16″. Sunday: a little new ( trace to 3″).

Despite the snow level increasing to 3500-4000 ft. Saturday morning, the mid and upper slopes will have good power Saturday. I like Saturday but Friday will have a lower snow level (1000-3000ft) with accumulating snowpack.

Sunday will see a little snow, with a SL of 4000ft.

Be sure and call ahead to see what’s open.

Ski on….
