LEAVENWORTH, WASH. – (November 16, 2013) – Stevens Pass announced today, November 16th as opening day for the 2013-14 winter season. Over 1,000 skiers and riders came to enjoy more than 22 inches of snow in the past 24 hours and a 30-inch base.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate opening weekend with all of our loyal guests. It’s always exciting to open this early, and with Stevens now operating daily we look forward to an amazing season as the snow keeps falling,” said Karl Kapuscinski, President and CEO of Stevens Pass Mountain Resort.
Operating hours will be 9am to 4pm seven days a week, conditions permitting. Hogsback and Daisy chairlifts and the rope tow are operating for opening day. The resort plans to add the Brooks chairlift on Sunday and other lifts as the week progresses and conditions allow.
Lift tickets will be just $20 for guests through Thursday. 2013-14 season pass holders from other mountain resort areas can also ski for free through Thursday by showing their pass in Guest Relations for a lift ticket.
Terrain park staff has been hard at work as well and have over 10 features in place in the Beacon Hill park, with more to come as the resort expands to four terrain parks. “It’s exciting to be able to showcase some of the new features we’ve been working so hard on,” said Brian Boyle, Grooming & Terrain Park Manager. “We’re committed to having the best terrain parks in the PNW, and this is a fun start.”
Resort amenities will be limited but Stevens Pass expects to expand facilities as more of the mountain opens for operation as the season progresses.
With more than $4 million in improvements, the 2013-14 winter season is sure to be a special one. Stevens Pass expects to unveil its new Doppelmayr high-speed detachable Jupiter Quad in line with opening Mill Valley as the season progresses, and will also have four terrain parks with features for all ages and abilities around the mountain as more terrain opens.
