Ski Recycling is Coming to Washington

A pilot program has begun to recycle old skis and snowboards in the Seattle/Bellevue area – focusing on the hundreds, if not thousands, of skis are tossed in our local landfills every year.

The program aims to find new uses for those skis since they cannot be recycled by the typical process due to the complexity of their construction. Individuals are being recruited to take the old skis and give them a new life – many will be used in ski fences, furniture and artwork.

Skis/snowboards can be taken to the two stores listed below:

Sturtevant’s (1100 Bellevue Way NE, Bellevue) –

Seattle Ski & Snowboard (14915 Aurora Ave N, Shoreline)

This is a great way to recycle your old equipment, and help us protect the environment by keeping snow-sports equipment out of landfills – we hope you’ll consider participating!!

For more information on the Ski Recycle program, for ways you can find a use for large quantities of old skis, or to be added to the registry of ski re-purposers, contact Brian Geppert, 206-321-8453, brian@geppert.us,  www.SkiArtistry.com.
