Larry’s Powder Alert – March 12, 2015

photo-1Powder Alert – Weather Update – March 12

Expect a wonderful spring day on Friday with partly sunny skies and warm temperatures.

A moist, mild weather system will spread rain Friday night into Saturday. The moisture is coming from the tropics and modest to heavy rain will be seen. Sadly, the snow level will be 7500 ft Friday night.

On Saturday, the snow level will lower a tad to 6000ft with mainly rain, but a rain snow/rain mix on the highest slopes. Improvement will be seen early Sunday morning as the snow level drops to 4000ft and minor snow accumulation occurs. But overall moisture tapers off on Sunday. Expect some clearing later in the day.

It looks dry for much of next week

Skiing continues at several western Washington ski areas. North facing, and upper elevation slopes are preferred. Please call ahead for details.

I was up at Crystal last weekend and had a great day in the sun. There was surprisingly good chalky snow up top. Sure it was limited, but it was much better than I expected. I love skiing in the sun.
