Larry’s Powder Alert – January 1, 2015

Powder Alert-Weather Update– Jan 1
Happy New Year

A weak weather system will move through on Friday, from the NW. The snow level will be about 2000 ft , so all slopes will be getting some snow. But it won’t be much, maybe 1-2″. Be cautious of thin spots and obstacles will be seen. Saturday will have mostly cloudy skies.

Sunday is when it gets tricky. A new weather system will be moving into the region. Computer models have been struggling with the timing of the snow level rise and the amount of snow, falling, before the eventual rise in snow levels.

Right now, I am going with mainly snow earlySunday (4″ -10″ – SL 2500ft ), then snow level rising late in the day to 5000ft, and 6000ft later Sundaynight into Monday. I favor early Sunday with the lower SL. There is a chance the snow level may not rise until evening.
